Eva Martina Luger works under the artist name e.m.l regul, a mirror image of her surname. She first exhibited her work while still at secondary school in a group exhibition covered by Austrian broadcaster ORF. She then immersed herself in art history and the techniques of the old masters, exploring oil and acrylic painting, murals, traditional decorative painting and heraldry. In the 2000s she held solo exhibitions in Carinthia, and one of her works appeared in several editions of the Chamber of Labour Klagenfurt art calendar. After a long period of experimentation in her studio, she returned to the public stage with a Vienna exhibition in 2025. Her current practice combines traditional craftsmanship with three-dimensional experimentation: she grinds her own oil colours using historical methods and brings painting, papier-mâché and wood together in tactile, multilayered works. For Eva Martina Luger, art is constant movement: preserving the knowledge of the old masters, creating her own colours and bringing materials to life.
